I saw this little guy when I went on a walk with my camera (can't remember why).

The Fourth
I was supposed to work on the Fourth, but due to low census in the ICU I was put on-call instead, which meant I got to hobble down to Breckenridge Park with Thomas (he's still recovering from his rock-climbing injury) and watch the big fireworks show. I brought along my Joby-pod and had some long exposure fun.
(I didn't use my flash, the light is from a passing car)

Snow Day In Texas
I slept at the hospital that night, so I didn't get to appreciate the snow.
Thomas took these pictures of our house for me.

Burned Down House

This is the house down the street from me that burned down a couple of months ago.It still smells like a bar and there is soot all over the sidewalk. You can see how the intense heat melted the shingles. For the longest time there were timbers poking out of the roof like burnt ribs. I missed getting a picture of that. The demolition has been going very slowly, I guess to facilitate various investigations.
There is soot all over the sidewalk.Despite serious damage to the interior and roof, the outside--stone and brick facade, windows, doors--is surprisingly pristine. I'm not sure if they'll try to salvage what's intact or do a total tear down. Either way, will the smoke smell ever leave?

Creek
More photos from Breckenridge, the huge park across the street from our home. I tried to find some interesting information to do a little write up on it, but the internet did not provide. Thomas says that the soccer fields used to be landfill, which is sad but I suppose is alright; at least the made a nice park. This little stream is sweet and very clear in places. I'd like to know what it's called and how it was made.
My Vibram Five Fingers!

Little Juniper and a blue sky.
Dried up Queen Anne's Lace.
Ah Dallas, if only you valued your natural resources. This is a start, but if we valued this park and creek as a community some thing tells me there wouldn't be so much trash floating around in the creek. It potentially could be a great place to swim on hot summer days. I'm sure the roaming bands of feral children I see around here would appreciate it.
