Jungle Bay Resort

This is Jungle Bay Resort on the eastern Caribbean island of Dominica, the second stop on Thomas and I's honeymoon. We stayed here three nights but wished we had stayed longer. Above, view from the walkway from the reception area to the cottages.
Above, cottage set in the trees. Accommodations are individual open air cottages set up the side of a hill facing the ocean. Quite a few steps to get to bed at night, but peaceful, charming and earthy.
Dining pavilion overlooking the stone paved pool. The beach is rough and rocky so this is the best place for swimming on premises (although there's a great river a short hike from here). Thomas and I opted for a package that included all meals, activities, and daily spa treatments. A good thing since the food was local with lots of veggie options and very very good!
Trees.
Ocean from the beach cabana.
Campaign vehicle of Sam, owner of Jungle Bay, who was running for Prime Minister of Dominica during our visit.
Drums in the Yoga studio. Complimentary Yoga every morning.
The second story studio faces the ocean.
It really sucks having to do Yoga here but we made do.
Stone facade of the conference room with the Yoga studio above. The resort hosted a conference on sustainable agriculture here during our stay.
Path from reception to the rest of the resort. Guests are encouraged to walk rather than drive or ride.
Daily little chubby visitor to our room. Also seen frequently in the dining room.
Cottages from the path.
The rug in our room.
A beautiful bed spread. We slept under this and a mosquito net to the sounds of the Jungle and Ocean.
Here is our little visitor at breakfast.
View from the dining room.
Hammock by the beach.
Bougainvillea covers the reception building.
Tree and sitting area outside of the reception building.
The dining pavilion is built around a tree with a beautiful creeping vine growing up the middle.
Adirondack chairs by the pool.
Another shot inside the dining room. I hope from all of my pictures you get a feel for this wonderful place. It's really as good as it sounds. It is a small, remote place, but it is very comfortable there and there is so much to see. Ask me more about it, if I can convince you to go I will. We hope to return for further adventuring.
